About Stronger Austin:                                                                                                                                      Powered by It’s Time Texas and in partnership with the Austin Parks and Recreation Department, the Austin Public Health Department, the Central Texas Food Bank, the Greater Austin Area My Brother’s Keeper organization, and the Michael and Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living, Stronger Austin is a public-private initiative to reduce health disparities, improve health outcomes, and create a more united Austin community. Stronger Austin’s programs and services are targeted to the most underserved and historically marginalized communities in Austin and are designed to achieve the following objectives: 1) provide free, fitness and nutrition education programming for all ages in the spaces and places where the target audiences live, learn, work, worship, and play; 2) increase access to free, healthy food; 3) expand access to health care services and health coaching; and 4) coordinate and increase access to wraparound social services.

Stronger Austin Group Exercise Instructors are self-starters with an adaptive work style who are
passionate about helping others reach their health goals. Our organization needs a people-person, one
who enjoys working with diverse communities, and has a talent for providing exercise instruction to
energetic groups. We need a tenacious individual who can work effectively with various personalities to
bring communities together through exercise.
Under the supervision of the Stronger Austin Program Manager, Stronger Austin Group Exercise
Instructors will be responsible for leading exercise classes to community groups in a fun and engaging
manner, engaging with participants to ensure program retention, promoting Stronger Austin
programming and local meetings and events, and other instructor duties as assigned by the Stronger
Austin leadership team.
Stronger Austin Programming is remote, with classes being held directly in the neighborhoods we serve. We are looking for instructors who can teach in the following neighborhoods: 78702, 78704, 78724, 78741, 78744, 78745, 78752, 78753. For a detailed list of our class offerings, please visit
What you’ll bring:
  • Current certification through a nationally accredited organization (Ex. NASM, AFAA, ACE, ACSM, Zumba, etc.)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to teach multiple formats of classes with various ages in attendance
  • Experience teaching various fitness levels and diverse populations
  • Cultivating a welcoming and nurturing environment for participants with diverse-abilities
  • General computer literacy required to use timekeeping software
  • Strong passion for the missions of Stronger Austin and IT’S TIME TEXAS
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Prolonged standing, walking, twisting, bending, and repetitive motions
  • Ability to work in various environments including inside and outside
  • Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally with assistance and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift or move
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision
  • Experience working with local communities is strongly preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish, or other languages is preferred
